The shell is durable Canadian maple wood which provides a solid feel with excellent flexibility. The resulting sound is clear and bright, warm and rich, with plenty of intense projection when you want it. Concerns about the durability of the thin shell are offset by the addition of Sound Focus rings cut from the same wood, deepening the overall tone. The quality of the drum continues with high-end components that add both to the sound and to the durability of the Tama Starclassic Maple Snare. The stay-tight strainer is designed to keep the tension you want, without slipping, even at looser settings. A quick, one-hand adjustment moves it to “off” only when that’s what you want. The hold-tight washers maintain perfect tension while the butt allows for easy side head adjustments without removing the snare wires.
